Nutritional therapy is the application of nutrition science in the promotion of optimum health, peak performance, disease prevention and patient care.
A Nutritional Therapist looks at how the body functions as a whole, making connections between what you eat, how you live, family history and other factors that have influenced your health, such as your medical history. Based on this information, you will then be advised on practical and realistic diet and lifestyle changes. Nutritional supplements are also often used to correct any deficiencies or imbalances that may be affecting your health.
What to expect during a treatment...
- The process starts with a one-to-one, fully confidential consultation between you and your therapist.
- You will be required to complete a questionnaire prior to the initial consultation with information about your current health and diet.
- The first consultation will include a detailed overview of your current health problems, medical and family history, plus diet and lifestyle factors.
- You will receive a personalised dietary, lifestyle and nutritional supplement programme generated from the information gathered in your consultation and when appropriate, from recommended laboratory tests.
- Follow-up consultations are usually advised to assess progress and make adjustments.
- You will be advised on a realistic time scale for expected improvements after the initial consultation
